Roger Allen

Sophisticated Saturday Soiree, Saturdays 7pm

Roger joined Radio Marsden in 1997 and has been the Saturday evening presenter ever since. He collects the requests, then presents the whole three hours, from 7.00 to 10.00. In addition to that, he's also the Secretary of Radio Marsden and a trustee of the charity. Outside of Radio Marsden, he does some freelance newsreading on Radio Jackie. Roger lists his hobbies as reading, Bulgarian folk dancing, and world domination.

Barry Alston

Saturday Breakfast Show, Saturdays 10am

Barry's been a member of Radio Marsden since October 1987, although some people reckon it isn't as long as that... [but it feels longer Bazza - webmaster ;-) ] Barry started on Thursday evenings & has presented most programmes on the station at some point during his career. Barry loves Formula 1, and loves his job working in IT - he says he loves every day as they're all different. Barry describes himself as "Very tall... very wide... a man wall with all me own teeth and hair and a perfect face for radio."

Julia Czastka

Thursdays 7pm - 10pm

Julia has been part of the Radio Marsden Thursday team since 2006. You'll catch her on the wards collecting your requests from 7pm, and then on the airwaves between 8 and 10, playing your favourite music with the rest of the team and adding in a good twist of humour. Outside of Radio Marsden, Julia works for an International Development Charity. Julia is on the committees of the United Nations Association and the South Norwood Polish Community, where she helps out, especially with fundraising. Julia says, "When I have a little spare time I love cooking and secretly wish I could have been a chef."

Simon Hartshorn

John & Simon Show / Request Hour, Mondays from 7pm

Simon presents the affectionately-dubbed "flagship show" from 7pm on Monday evenings with John Willcocks. The show includes their take on the week's news, life's unanswered questions, and 'The Phantom's Post Modern Poser' - a trivia question posted in by The Phantom Quizmaster. Simon notes, "we then go on to host The Request Hour from 8pm with 'top of the range' request collector Mary Mallon who is peerless!". Simon lives in neighbouring town Carshalton, is a music, cricket and animal lover, and lists his hobbies as watching live music & comedy and dining out.

Paul Holman

Request Hour / Sunday Twist, Sundays from 8pm

Paul has been a member of Radio Marsden since 1984 and has presented the Request programme for his whole career with the station, mainly on Tuesday but moving to Sunday in 2007. During his time with the station Paul has interviewed many well known people from the world of showbusiness, pop and politics. Most notably Paul was invited to 10 Downing Street to interview Lady Thatcher during her time as Prime Minister. Paul's hobbies include the theatre and films, and he enjoys travelling, especially to visit family in Australiia.

Phil Lindsay

Fully Loaded, Fridays from 7pm / Tuesday Live!, Tuesdays from 7pm

Party Classics, Saturdays from 11pm

Phil is dubbed "the official gatekeeper to the weekend" as he kick-starts it in style every Friday from 7pm. 'Fully Loaded', to coin a phrase, does exactly what it says on the tin. You can also hear Phil hosting ‘Radio Marsden Party Classics’ every Saturday from 11pm, and presenting requests for our younger listeners in 'Tuesday Live' from 7pm. Phil is also the press officer for Radio Marsden. Outside of Radio Marsden, Phil works for an IT reseller and supports Liverpool FC (well, someone has to). He coaches a football team, and lists his other hobbies as sport of all kinds, good food, socialising and having chilled and relaxed nights at home.

Paul Lydon

Good Groove Show, Sundays from mid-day

Paul - "Outside Broadcast Coordinator and RM's Soul Brother Number 1" -  has been with Radio Marsden for five years. Paul's "Good Groove Show" broadcasts the best in contemporary soul and black music featuring rare grooves, northern soul, soulful house and features such as the Version Excursion, Sampled and the Disco Dalliance. As Outside Broadcast Co-ordinator Paul has managed a number of sizeable events with the Radio Marsden team involving everything from the Sutton Country and Western Festival to regular discos and parties.

Findlay MacPherson

Rock'n'Blues, Tuesdays from 9pm

Findlay has been a presenter on Radio Marsden for 5 years, and presents "Rock'n'Blues" from 9pm on Tuesday, which carries a regular feature on bands that you can see and hear locally. Away from the studio, his day job is as a Banker with Clydesdale Bank in the City of London. Findlay is also a keen cyclist, cycling the 30 mile round trip to work most days and riding some long distance events, which included in 2007, the 120 mile Tour de France stage from London to Canterbury.

Pete Munday & Mike Williams

The Munday Twins, Thursday from 7pm

Pete & Mike always work together, so submitted their presenter profile jointly. We think it was just a sneaky tactic to get Mike's name further up the alphabetical listing! They write, "We are Mike Williams and Pete Munday, otherwise known as the Munday Twins. We joined Radio Marsden in 1997 after learning our trade at Hospital Radio 9 in Tooting and before that a weekly show on UCH Radio. Currently on Thursday evenings we started on Radio Marsden presenting a 3 hour Breakfast Show on Saturday mornings. Jason Reynolds (Chairman) was quite impressed but he has been avoiding us ever since, although he is still nicking our best ideas and features for his programmes. Features of our Thursday show include "The Tamla Motown Triple Play" and "The Beatles Twin-Spin" which are totally different from each other. Strangely, some people think they're the same. Contrary to popular opinion, we're not joined at the hip and we do lead separate lives away from Radio Marsden! We're both married (to different people) and have various other interests, but the main thing we have in common is a shared love of many types of music. Thursdays wouldn't be complete without our wonderful request collectors Pam and Julia, whose hard work and enthusiasm always ensure many and varied requests from the listeners."

Mike WIlliams

Steve Palmer

Saturday Brunch, Saturdays from 1pm

Steve has been at Radio Marsden since August 1997 and is the station's Programme Controller, responsible for the day-to-day output that you hear on-air. He's also one half of the station's technical team, and spends a lot of time crawling around on the floor of the studio keeping everything working! Steve lists meeting & interviewing HRH Prince William as the definite highlight of his time with the station, but says that presenting a live programme at 2am as part of the 30th Birthday celebrations in 1999 comes a close second. Outside Radio Marsden, Steve works as a Transmission Engineer for a major broadcaster and enjoys socialising, swimming, playing badminton and is a big film fanatic.

Kevin Parrott

Request Hour & Late Show, Fridays from 8pm

Backspin, Sundays 6pm / Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 11pm

Kevin joined Radio Marsden in July 1998. On Fridays, Kevin collects your requests before presenting them in the Request Hour, and takes turns in hosting the Late Show. Kevin's other programme is Backspin, mainly playing music from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s with features such as Words of The Day, The Middle Eight and other good stuff. Outside of Radio Marsden, Kevin's interests are music (surprise, surprise), football, cricket, chess, talking, listening, human nature, newspapers, chocolate and macramé.

Dan Pattemore

Kids Jukebox, Sundays from 2pm

Dan has been with the station since July 2007 and along with Mike Pavey, is one half of the team keeping the patients on the Wolfson Children's Unit entertained every Sunday afternoon. 'Kids Jukebox' is a fun-packed, different show, playing the music that kids want to hear! Dan & Mike also present features on Global goings on around the world, live football scores as they happen and the Top-Ten Movies, DVD’s, Games and Singles charts. Outside of Radio Marsden, Dan enjoys partying and is a mobile DJ. He and Mike also present a weekly podcast. One of his big passions is Portsmouth F.C. and he enjoys travelling and meeting new people.

Ralph Petty

Marsden Country, Sundays from 10am

Ralph has been with Radio Marsden since February 1997 and can currently be heard every Sunday morning bringing you the very best in Country, Western and Line Dance music. Ralph's love of Country music dates back to 1966, when he worked on a radio station for American Forces in the Middle East. His claim to fame is that he did the first ever disco in Dubai! As well as his presenting duties on Radio Marsden, he can also be found in Sutton High Street each July, compering our famous annual Country Music Festival.

Mike Pavey

Kids Jukebox, Sundays from 2pm

Mike joined Radio Marsden at the same time as Dan Pattemore. Together they present a show full of great music and funny talking points for our younger listeners on the Wolfson Children's Unit. Together with Dan, Mike also presents a weekly podcast and hosts a mobile disco called Renegade. Mike's hobbies are Scuba Diving, Weight Training and he supports the "best team in England" Manchester United. Mike is the manager of a hardware store.

Jason Reynolds

Sunny Side Up, weekdays from 6am

Let's Get Weird, Sunday - Friday from Midnight

Jason has been with Radio Marsden for over 15 years: in that time, he has held down most positions on the Committee and, since 2000, has been the stations’ Chairman. Jason can be found bringing you the weekday Breakfast Show – “Sunny Side Up” – from 6am, as well as our foray into the bizarre - "Let's Get Weird" - Sunday to Friday from Midnight. Outside Radio Marsden, Jason’s full-time job is within commercial radio and he has presented programmes on stations from East Anglia to the South Coast and can currently be heard in London and Surrey. Jason can recite the alphabet backwards in less than five seconds, knows all the words to Benny Hill's "Ernie", speaks French, plays drums, and has shaken the hand of Frank Sinatra. He also assures us that he does have a life!

Charles Reynolds

What's On, Sundays from 4pm

Charles (no relation to our Chairman!) was always known for having a good speaking voice and after several so called "proper jobs" he spotted an ad for volunteers at Radio Marsden and made the call. Initially he joined Grant James on the "Saturday Special" before progressing to his own show on a Sunday afternoon. When he's not in the studio, he can be found doing Medieval Living History, and he is also a singer. Join Charles on Sundays for a tour of some of the programmes on Radio Marsden as well as a broad selection of music including mellow Jazz and Light Classical, as well as more contemporary sounds and tracks yet to be released.

Val Reynolds

My Kind of Music, Monday - Saturday at 3pm

Val joined Radio Marsden in January 2003 as a request collector, and there aren’t many nights that she hasn’t been around the wards looking for your favourite songs. She can currently be found wandering around on Wednesday evenings, and you can hear her present her Kind of Music every weekday afternoon from 3 o'clock.  Away from Radio Marsden she is retired but enjoys looking after her grand-daughter and her friends little girl. Hobbies include playing bowls, music and eating out.

John Willcocks

John & Simon Show / Request Hour, Mondays from 7pm

John presents on Monday evenings from 7pm with his "best mate in showbiz Simon H". They discuss their views on life, people around them and "the things we don't understand, for example e-mails, anything technical, and people that wander around shops eating things they ain't paid for". John lists his interests as eating crisps, watching telly and DJing at parties and weddings - although, says John, "being honest, if I can do the first two I ain't fussed about the rest!".
