We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic and dedicated people to join our team of friendly volunteers at Radio Marsden.
The station is based at the Sutton hospital, from where all of our main programmes are produced and presented. We also have a small studio at the Chelsea hospital, which is used to present local music request programmes. Outside of request programmes, patients at Chelsea hear Radio Marsden Sutton, and our future plans are for more programmes to be presented from Chelsea, where we are particularly in need of new volunteers.
As a volunteer you can get involved with as much or as little as you want, although we do ask for a minimum commitment of a few hours of your time each week. Work involves ward visiting to meet the patients, presentation, production and fund-raising. Perhaps you have a specific skill that would benefit the station? If so, once you are an established member you can join the Committee and take on a more specialist role. This might involve Technical Operations, Outside Broadcasts, and Publicity to name but a few.
Volunteers must be aged 16 years or over to join, and 18 years or over to operate the studio equipment unsupervised. You must be committed and reliable, giving of your time on a regular basis. All volunteers are required to take part in fundraising events from time-to-time. Full training on the equipment will be given, but some basic computer knowledge would be helpful as we use a computerised playout system.
If you'd like to join us, send an e-mail to recruitment@radiomarsden.co.uk with a brief description of yourself and where you live, and we will send you an application form. If you would like to speak to someone about joining, leave a message on our voicemail by calling (020) 8661 3083.
Thanks for your interest and we hope to welcome you as a new member very soon!
